The garden in front of the Military Club

At present, this is an excellent place to relax. Oftentimes there you could see exhibitions or events in the open air. It is located right in the centre of Sofia, close to the Russian church, the temple-monument “Alexander Nevsky”, the Royal palace, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Parliament. Actually, this is the area in front of the Military Club that has been in existence since the 20-ies of the ХХ century when there was a nursery at that location. Initially, there they intended building the Library, yet consequently just an excavation was performed, but no building was erected. This is the reason for a hollow area there that turned into trademark of its relief for almost 100 years.
In 1927 it acquired its present statute of city garden to decorate the new building of the Military club. The fountain with the statue of a naked boy dates back to those times; its original was stolen and today it is replaced by an exact replica.
